Indian Railways earnings up by 12.16 per cent during 2014-15

World’s fourth largest rail network, Indian Railways has recorded an increase in revenue earning during 201415 fiscal year at $25.30 billion (Rs 157880.50 crore), as compared to $22.56 billon (Rs 140761.27 crore) during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.16 per cent.Indian_Railways

The total approximate earnings from goods during fiscal 2014-15 was recorded at $17.16 billion (Rs 107074.79 crore), as compared to $15.21 billion (Rs 94955.89 crore) during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.76 per cent.

Revenue earnings from passengers during the financial year 2014-15 was at $6.87 billion (Rs 42866.33 crore) against $6 billion (Rs 37478.34 crore) during the same period last year, registering an increase of 14.38 percent.

The total approximate revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to $646 million (Rs 4035.56 crore) during fiscal 2014-15, as compared to $611 million (Rs 3818.03 crore) during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.70 per cent.

The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during the financial year 2014-15 were 8227.99 million compared to 8425.09 million during the same period last year, showing a decrease of 2.34 per cent.

In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during fiscal 2014-15 were 4503.97 million and 3724.02 million compared to 4549.62 million and 3875.47 million registering a decrease of 1.00 per cent and 3.91 per cent respectively during the same period last year.
