Metro Railway Safety Commissioner inspect Chennai Metro Rail


Commissioner for Metro Railway Safety, S K Mittal conducted safety audit inspection on the Chennai Metro Rail Rolling Stock (Train) on April 6, 2015.Chennai Metro

During the audit, checks were done on the safety aspects like braking, passenger communication systems, emergency evacuation procedures, anti-collision functions (prevention of train collision). The other features that were verified are like, fire safety feature, communication facility between the train-station-Operation Control Centre, rescue of passengers in case of the failure of train etc.

The Commissioner inspected and verified the safety aspects pertaining to Signalling and Telecommunication system in association with rolling stock.

Inspection was conducted during the trial between Koyambedu and Alandur station of Chennai Metro Rail Corridor II.

The Commissioner also inspected the maintenance facilities at the train depot located in Koyambedu and checked facilities like workshop lines, inspection lines, and train wash plant, etc.

Pankaj Kumar Bansal,I.A.S, MD, CMRL, R.Ramanathan, Director (Proj), L.Narsim Prasad, Director(S&O), Deputy Commissioner for Metro Railway Safety, E.Srinivas and CMRS Deputy Chief Electrical Engineer, K.Palani and other senior officials of CMRL were present during inspection.

During his briefing to press CMRS Commissioner said that inspection report will be forwarded to Minister of Railway through Railway Board for approval of CMRL Rolling Stock.
